I'd like to get your input on the behavior of Captain Ron, who's recently switched to playing as The Cream.

During the past couple of years he's managed to crank up his annoying chat spam to 11.
His claims are still as bizarre and baseless as ever and yet he keeps poisoning the atmosphere on the servers every. single. time. he. plays.

Ron, this is the appropriate place for you to express your grievances.

as you wrote the guy is a well known troll like various other. I think I already banned him a few times in the past so given the circumstances he can probably be chat banned again.

Ron talks a lot, sure, but he never even curses or drops f-words apart from "fix it". Compare that to the meltdown squad (Fran, Ricky, Junkie, Mr. K, etc.) who actually spew genuine toxicity into the chat. If you're handing out muzzles, start with the people throwing real abuse, not the guy who just complains politely.

The guy is literally playing from the US with 120+ ms ping. Anyone who's played high ping knows how miserable non-unlagged rockets and ghost rails feel, so yeah, he cries about hit registration ("4 rails hit, 1 registered, fix it") and calls anyone hitting insane shots a bot. That's not "poisoning the community," that’s just standard 2000s boomer-shooter venting.

Love him or hate him, Ron actually knows Quake mechanics inside out and he's explained game/netcode quirks like the lag cheat that most people here don't even know exist.

He’s basically part of the server furniture at this point. Handing him a perm ban over some harmless chat complaints is wild. With how small the active Q3 scene is, driving away dedicated regulars over mild venting makes absolutely zero sense. If he gets muzzled and decides to pack up and play elsewhere, I honestly won't blame him. And he probably won't be the only one moving on.

the problem with this player is that while he keeps it more or less 'clean' as you put it basically all he does is complain for no good reason over and over again and when that happens then you have a problem since it's nothing as he's putting it. here you have the full log for his last week of chat at the main server and it's pretty much the same just day after day which obviously over the years it just gets annoying and it doesn't really add anything to the game/community so to be honest by looking at his chat history I don't even think he would be missing anything by getting chat banned as the guy doesn't really seem to use the chat for anything meaningful other than complaining over and over again for no good reason. as I'm telling you this is something that has been going on for quite some time already and it's not even the first time he gets reported/chat banned by several different people so it's nothing new or a mere occurrence it's well know established behavior and when it reaches a point that it just alienate the game and spoil the fun then it's clearly disallowed.

What was the point of creating such a ridiculous poll? If someone is constantly bothered by the conversations, the admin could add a personal "ignore" command; those who find others annoying can simply block each other in the chat. Ron might appear to be the one complaining, but there’s nothing truly problematic going on—his presence in the chat actually breaks the silence and makes the environment more entertaining. If this nonsense is accepted, similar polls could be created for everyone, which would only drive players away from the server—eventually, the people making these polls will be the only ones left playing. If anyone has a personal grievance, they should report it to the admin, provide a screenshot, and let the issues be resolved—just like in the past.

So far, everything seems fine, although there is a temperature. There were no direct insults; there’s a slight feeling of intrusiveness, but on the other hand, it’s better than nothing. I think Ron should reduce the intensity by 25%, and that would be ideal. Overall, the messages seem positive. Well, I mean, for example, I’ve never seen Ron get his butt burned or seriously insult anyone, or do team pushing — like I’ve seen some PRO players do after a rocket hits their butt from f.e. a teammate’s Woodface. xD

As Fran mentioned, this person constantly changes their username in-game; they have no consistent personality and show no real interest in the actual gameplay. They frequently go AFK, and whenever someone else starts bothering me, they immediately jump into the fray—attacking both the other person and me. Every time I log in, they try to bring me down by calling me "mustard" (hardal). This has been going on for months, and because I haven't filed any complaints, they’ve only become more brazen—actively trying to provoke me into swearing at them. If anyone deserves a chat ban, it’s this individual; they keep changing their name, repeating the same behavior, and clearly derive pleasure from it.
