IPV6 broken?

Post by fernandinho1337 »

Hey everyone,

anyone but me has been using IPV6? I just noticed that it is not working anymore (probably for a while) and automatically changes to IPV4. I wonder what I am doing wrong. I tried Net_enabled 2/4/6/7 but it did not do anything. I can only connect via the IPv4. When I try in the command line in windows to ping/ tracert via the IPV6 I can tell that it is working in princple.

I just tried now and it seems to be working here so it's definitively gonna be a client problem. are you sure you're using the right command to connect IPv6? the "right" way to connect is \connect -6 fpsclasico.de:27968 for example for the private server. alternatively you can probably still even explicitly use the ip if you want to be sure, for example \connect [2001:4ba0:ffeb:d3::1]:27968, but I guess the dns way is the preferable one (I mean, it's).

and btw to be safe I just checked logs now and indeed as of yesterday there was people connected through IPv6 to the servers just as usual so it's definitively working.

ping -6 ranked.fpsclasico.de

Ping wird ausgeführt für ranked.fpsclasico.de [2001:4ba0:ffeb:d3::1] mit 32 Bytes Daten:

maybe im doing something wrong.

what settings would you recommend?

net_enabled 2 or 4
net_restart

right?

the recommended is probably the default on the packages, net_enabled 3, which enables both IPv4 and IPv6 with preference for IPv4. if you prefer IPv6 over IPv4 no matter what (probably not the recommended but if you do) you can probably do net_enabled 7 which will give instead preference to IPv6 so you won't need to do connect -6 to connect via IPv6 as it should now default to it and instead to connect via IPv4 you'd need connect -4. additionally, as said, although not recommended you can always just use the literal addresses as I noted, that only affects the name resolution which is the real intended way to connect by modern standard by the way (i.e. server changes).
