UnFreeZe Fall 2024 ALL-Star Game (Sunday 22 of December of 2024 21:00 CET [UTC+01])
format and rules
classic best of five 5vs5 fights played on a-b-a-b-c order where a is the home team of the fight for the regular phase then legged best of four encounters played in a-b-a-b order without tie-breakers for the finals (all of them, undercard included).
the undercard matchups though not strictly mandatory/enforced they are meant to be played and honored all the same.
the servers for the matches will either be fpsclasico.eu or fpsclasico.de at ports 27968 or 27970 (both 24/7 available for testing and training with the public password 1234). the home team of each match will ultimately chose the server to play unless deemed technically necessary otherwise (i.e. the chosen server is down or impacted in some way by a technical issue).
all the maps in a fight must be different with the "home" team choices having preference over the "away" team choices and the picks will carry out between direct legged match ups.
the pro-q3dm6/6++/bloodcovenant, q3dm7/7++ and pro-q3dm13/nodm9a all count as same map (the respective group of course).
each team picks three maps from the entire map pool posted bellow for the regular phase and will have the ability to blacklist one from the opponent picks. the map pool for the finals (all of them, undercard included) will be formed instead exclusively by the maps (all of them) that were picked by the teams during the regular phase matches, provided that at least twelve different maps were chosen in total of course.
for the regular phase matches that include a tie-breaker this come from the first trio that haven't been already pick from the tie-breakers list posted bellow. each team then will have then the ability to block one tie-breaker from the three that came out respectively. ultimately the tie-breaker to be played in the match results from the one remaining.
the home team should announce their map picks at least 72 hours before the fight date as to give enough time for the away team to do the same as well as to announce their block/s at least 48 before the fight date for ultimately the away team to announce their block/s at least 24 hours before the fight date, missing any deadline will result in the commission (i.e. me) overruling that as well as any of the following deadlines for the fight.
every player that participates on a fight must ensure to have installed at least any maps announced to be played prior connecting to the server.
needless to say normal UnFreeZe rulesets at play and as usual, exploitative gaming and/or just ruining the game in some way can be subject to some kind of penalization to evaluate depending on the offense.
unnecessary talking during the fights is not allowed and the players must properly name themselves (i.e. no fake/random nicking).
no in-game spectators are allowed, extra players must wait/spec on the respective gtv server or anywhere else where they remain engaged in case of need later on.
given the calendar dates then it will become responsibility of the teams to either meet them or come back with another date within a week term, failing to do so and/or to communicate clearly during this period of time will result on the respective team/s being ko'ed.
the only accepted way of communication when it concerns the commission (i.e. me) it will be exclusively this fpsclassico forum or the respective fpsclassico adminless email account.
all teams must consist of between six players (min) and eight players (max) and be announced and registered in this forum prior the start of the competition for which at least one of them (the representative) must have a registered account in this forum.
before registration all teams are subject to a overall fair play balance limit in favour of a more exciting and engaging tournament for everyone involved in fashion with previous editions champions abilities (approx).
unless special circumstances and/or stated otherwise roster changes during the development of the tournament are not be allowed.
all teams and players names must be "original" (or at least not clearly copies/rip off of something else) and respectful and stay away from any sort of political or social causes. in particular advertisement/spam/mockery nicks are explicitly forbidden.
obviously teams aren't going to be micro managed however at the same time it's important to note that everyone registered is expected (i.e. required) to play at some point. in that sense, registered players that at the end of the tournament haven't appeared in any (in-record) game and/or that systematically just "refuse to play" will be removed from their respective team.
the usual fight schedules will be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday nights between 20:30-21:30 central European time as start hours with other dates eventually possible if necessary/mutually agreed beforehand.
although it will be tried to respect the game dynamics during the development of the competition as much as possible, game adjustments/changes can be introduced at any given point if deemed necessary to correct any potential game issues/exploits or if otherwise just found appropriate for a better development.
although there's no explicit installation that will be enforced so people is free to use whatever they see fit it's nevertheless strongly recommenced (virtually required I'd say) to have at least downloaded and installed as well one of the provided full tested packages on this site fpsclasico-client-community-edition.zip (64 bit win/linux/mac pc compatible) and/or ioq3v6-unfreeze-client-v23.5.zip (32 bit win/linux pc compatible) just to be safe.
despite how many decades you have played Quake III Arena it's strongly recommended (again virtually required) to have played at least for some days at the well known public servers before join as this might end up significantly differing from what you could have expected it to be.
it's strongly recommended (again more than virtually required as it might even end up being actually enforced instead if necessary) that the top elite players split their forces leading their own teams rather than just teaming up together in the same team for a potential easy win so when build your team look forward a balanced and exciting competition not about overpowering the competition as overpowering teams (in one way or another and at some point or another) will not be allowed. nobody wants to lose everything the same way nobody wants to win everything as there's no fun in either of that so keep that in mind when building your team or when joining a team.
in line with that and as written in the rules, the purpose of these events is that the people participate and get involved, therefor do not join this if you already know beforehand that you're mostly not going to be available during the tournament dates or just "for the sake of it".
both available servers and routes for this edition are finally of similar quality so the choice this time shouldn't be such a big deal. that said, in the event of doubt the generally recommended and default route/pick for the matches is fpsclasico.eu:27968.
the rules on this page aren't black and white laws that will blindly be applied just like that and it's as well important to note that it's not possible either to cover and anticipate everything just like that here (or anywhere else) so what's important is to understand the spirit of the norms rather than trying to make a issue out of the language or of how something is redacted as that will probably take you nowhere here in the event of a disagreement.
in line with that, the same could be said that it applies to the schedules. although there's always some flexibility and understanding at the end of the day systematically withholding match dates just waiting for some specific player/s to be available will not be tolerated.
beside competing do not forget to have fun and share the experience with the rest of the participants both in-game as well as off-game since at the end of the day that's really what this is all about.
in case of doubt or anything do not hesitate to make any questions you might have as well as provide any feedback you see fit always in a respectful and constructive manner of course. in that sense please remember to stay away from overarguing, forcing a issue or simply monopolizing the conversation with a specific topic and similar behaviors that just take away from the experience as, in the long run, they will not be tolerated.
