[technical question] when I connect to unfreeze1, com_maxfps goes from 125 to 200

Post by pyron83 »

Hi guys,

I have 2 pcs on which I play q3, a laptop with Ubuntu 16.04 and almost no problems (despite its not stellar performance) and a more powerful desktop i7 3770 with Windows 10.

On this pc I experienced some weird stuff.
The most annoying is that if I connect to unfreeze1, it sets my com_maxfps to 200 and cl_maxpackets to 100, despite having that both to 125 on my q3config.cfg and autoexec.cfg (both in q3 folder and unfreeze folder).
No matter what, even if I set those value to 125 during the game, they get reset to 200/100 on the next map.
I’m using ioquake3 1.33 and th last unfreeze pk3.
What should I do?

Thanks

short answer, use the settings the server is automatically enforcing (i.e. 200 fps 100 max packets) as 125 settings are a terrible choice here. if you insist, only option is to drop your settings on some cfg and then bind execing that cfg to some key and have that key pressed at the start of each game although like I said, you shouldn't need to do that as that will only make your game worse here.

ok thanks man, this is new

I did remember that "com_maxfps=125" and "cl_maxpackets=125" were the best options, but probably I'm wrong.

Thanks for the tip
