main game server upgrade

ok, as I think that you already know this week I took a updated black Friday deal for the current main game server so finally today I'll be migrating it into the new machine. yesterday I just finished with all the final preparations and check ups so now I just shut it down to carry on with all the data transfer. expected it to be completed by the afternoon or so, more or less, if nothing breaks. in any case, stay tuned to the forum for more info and if anything I'll just let you know. once complete everything just should continue to work as usual so there should be no problems. initially I was going to update and rework everything from scratch, as I often do, but this time I finally decided against as to minimize risks so it will be just a simple one on one migration. the data transfer itself should take a few hours and the final setup another hour more or less. after that all the usual dns and tools will work as usual but just in case someone might already need them the new ips for the upgraded main game server are 213.202.230.213 and 2001:4ba0:ffeb:d3::1 for IPv4 and IPv6 respectively. in the mean time the secondary server will continue to work of course so just take it easy and I look forward updating this soon.

new server up and running now, check it out. I still have to fix up all the routing to the new IP's and update the dns but that should be it by now. if anything just let me know here. hopefully this time in the next days I'll complete the usual server report that apparently be it for some reason or another it was completely missing from the previous installation, sorry about that.

I'm done now with the routing and the name servers so basically all that is left now is just to review everything and some final adjustments accordingly. as usual, if anything just let me know.

ok, I have just been monitoring it now for a while and from what saw I believe that it outperformed the previous one as it was meant to be so unless I missed something I think that then this should be done by now. as said, obviously what's left is what was left undone from the previous time before I got busy (mostly details/secondary things but that also do matter), hopefully I look forward finally completing all that within these day/weeks as it should so stay tuned for the usual server report and more. have fun and sorry for the delay in the maintenance, at least I made it in time to catch some juicy deals and secure at least the main game server for other six months.

as said, from what I have seen I think that everything is up and running with the new server as it should and between yesterday and today I finally setup again those smokeping.fpsclasico.de and mrtg.fpsclasico.de monitoring sites that it's not that they broke with the migration or anything is that they were unceremoniously missing, be it for some reasons or another, from the previous installation so now you can follow that and check first hand how the new main game server is operating as it should ever be. as usual, that's just to get started in the next days I will go adding more probes there and hopefully I put together that infamous server report thread so you can be informed of how this is technically working so far. for the rest, along with this server, I also got some more juicy black Friday deals so we'll see how those play out as well, those are still in the making. so far, the main game server was just big deal but to be honest this year black Friday deals were pretty busy so stay tuned and once again, thank you very much to everyone for their patience.
