main servers migration

Post by adminless »

as those that followed the UnFreeZe tournament during these months already know, it looks like finally this season there was major server inventory overhauls to consolidate the Windows 11 generation of pcs in the market overall so I just took advantage of that situation to now update and adjust this with a couple of new (they are not brand new though, they are actually used as usual) servers. as said, the market changes basically come to make the new entry point of enterprise servers the coffee lake generation of machine or equivalent. unfortunately, although a remarkable update, at the time of writing that still goes a bit out of budget so it was not really worth (i.e. just a single coffee lake machine cost like all the other servers together, not that good for obvious reasons). that said said, the update also consequently phased out this current generation of servers here so hopefully I just took advantage of that situation to first repurchase the main server completely as-is now as a bargain just for a even more reduced price of only 20 euros a month and additionally got a major upgrade for the previous secondary server in one of those solid black Friday deals around (a top of the line haswell refresh, Devil's Canyon, machine) also just for 20 euros a month that can even produce 4k video to bring the total cost of the main servers down to only 40 euros a month now.

past week I just finished setting them up and this week testing them as usual so today I just shut down the main server now and hopefully along the day I'll migrate it into this new machine. if everything goes according to plan and there's no issues the current secondary server will follow tomorrow so stay tuned. as usual if anything I'll just write it here and you'll have all the information once the entire thing is finished which will probably still take some more days. thanks for your patience.

primary game servers migrated now to the new machine so check it out. all the usual dns should continue to work just as usual along with the previous secondary game server that hopefully I'll migrate as well tomorrow morning. additionally thanks to the improved hardware I updated some the settings for better play by mid 2010's standards now.

the ips? you mean the fps, the server tick rate? yes I did increase that across all the servers as that's more relevant with the current cpus/connections and even other modern games now.

ah lol yes obviously, ips just meant that, ip (addresse)s. sure I deployed two new servers today as i commented and obviously they have different ip addresses. I was going to comment on that later as I repeat, the recommended and normal way to connect is either just through the game or if not through the dns. the ip numbers should only really be used in the event of a issue but anyways as you ask the new addresses are 5.104.111.196 / 2001:41d0:700:1e99::1 for fpsclasico.de and 51.75.145.153 / 2001:41d0:700:1e99::1 for fpsclasico.eu all in the usual ports (i.e. 27961 , 27962 etc). fpsclasico.de is now the primary one although both machines are virtually equivalent now. so far only the primary server (the odd ones, 27961 , 27963 etc) has been moved the secondary ones (i.e. 27962 , 27964 etc) will follow suit tomorrow as I have seen so far there has been no issues whatsoever with the migration by now.

tomorrow afternoon after I migrate the secondary server I'll update the forum links tab where I log the ip numbers so check by then. sorry but I got a bit throw off by that as I assume (from what I see) that almost nobody is still using the ip numbers to connect (as they should since those do change while the game browser or the dns doesn't).

i followed your recommendation and changed from the IPs that i have been using to fpsclasico.de:27XXX
is it correct that GTV is currently down or still an issue in my HLSW?

the main ips are alternated with the gtv not having a secondary connection (as it's not needed there). if you want to manually add, try this main list:
  • UnFreeZe1: 5.104.111.196:27961
  • UnFreeZe2: 51.75.145.153:27962
  • glacius: 5.104.111.196:27963
  • ffa: 51.75.145.153:27964
  • ctf: 5.104.111.196:27965
  • duel: 51.75.145.153:27966
  • masters: 5.104.111.196:27967
  • ranked1: 5.104.111.196:27968
  • gtv1: 5.104.111.196:27969
  • ranked2: 51.75.145.153:27970
  • gtv2: 51.75.145.153:27971
  • ffa (quakelive): 5.104.111.196:27972
  • duel (quakelive): 51.75.145.153:27973
  • ca (quakelive): 51.75.145.153:27974
although as said, that's a bit futile as next time I migrate the servers those numbers will change however the respective dns (fpsclasico.de / fpsclasico.eu) won't and those as well include the IPv6 addresses which are much harder/annoying to write. I just migrated the secondary server this morning so I believe that by now all that list should work if not just let me know.

no problem I just updated the links forum tab now so check that out for the now new complete ips if you want, they are obviously ordered by preference (under general/normal circumstances) there. I think that should then now finish with the game servers migration and along today/tomorrow or so I'll just migrate the rest of the services in those servers (mostly the stats) and that should be it with this. from what I have seen so far these new servers seem to have been working even better than the previous ones so this new setup, now just at a even more adjusted cost of 40 euros/month, should ensure that the servers keep running at least for one more year as-is in perfect standing thanks to all the funds that have been received.

yesterday afternoon I finally finished moving all the stat sites into the new servers so hopefully within these days I'll finish with the rest of the secondary stuff as well and thus I will decommission the previous servers and then all that should be left to finish with this would be just to write the usual servers information thread which hopefully I'll complete at some point along the holidays after the some data from the typical use has been collected.

ok this week I finally ended decommissioning the previous servers so now this is what it's, since yesterday or so, everything is now fully functioning from the new servers. I still have stuff left to review and finish until everything is done but I hope that probably by the next week or so everything should be done just ready to write the usual server "documentation" thread (that will take some time) so stay tuned. as bonus I also migrated this morning this fpsclassico domain into a more internet specific registar for hopefully better support/stability in the long term and consolidation with the rest of the domains. from what I saw there was no issues thus I guess that so far so good with all this by now.
