NoChatHere / NoCheatHere

Post by MelindaGates »

Hi, during the game of this evening arround 20:45, the player NoChatHere was frozen with nobody beside. Suddently he respawned anew few meters from where it was frozen  . I'm quite suspecting cheating, but I'm not sure if this kind of event can occur without cheat. I never saw that before.
Just a warning in case of others reports...

just like that it's difficult to tell what could have occurred. a few possibilities could be that there was someone behind a corner/wall to thaw him or simply that the auto-balance switched him therefore thawing him in the process among probably other circumstances. in any case, I can assure you that thawing is server controlled so there's no client side cheat that can thaw you just like that as far as I can tell.

This also occurs with myself sometimes. Is it like pac said respawn time? You are frozen, no one is near you and you are unfrozen and not switched to other team! Is this some bug?

again, just like that is difficult to tell, may be you fell in a pit or in lava which auto thaw in around a minute for example.

unless some other bizarre thing it could be a bug but as said without a demo or something just like that it's difficult to really tell.

Description reminds of the case from q3dm15. When you blocked the body in front of the cross in the basement, it was also possible to unfreeze anyone. It's probably a similar mechanism.

Thank you all of you for your answers. I don't want to blame too fast the player and to be honest I also was wondering if his nickname wouldn't be a provocation hidding a true cheater. I have seen another topic about this player questionning his fairplay, so it reenforced my doubts.
But after reading your posts my point of view changed and I supposed it's more like a bug, but I'm still not sure...
It happened at the time he was frozen in the very middle of the slime hall of deva station q3dm11. Visibility was great and I didn't see anyone hidding behind.
I don't want to warn for nothing (in French we say "to scream for wolfs" :) but if something else happens with that player it could be another witness statement.
Let's play ! ;)

if you've been in slime, I think it's the same as in lava or void - after a while you're defrosted automatically.

of course, lava/slime are pretty much the same thing that's why I'm telling that without a demo or something, just like that, it's hard to tell.

with thinner walls, you can melt the teammate if the frozen body is close to the wall and you stand on the other side. This only applies to thin walls.

Because it happened in the middle of the q3dm11 slime room...I have another hypothesis...

Ghost !! :o

In Ghostbusters, they emerge from slime :wtf:

So it was most probably a ghost,

I'm quite sure now ! :?

:D
