ok, fpsclasico videos for the semi-final are up already (YouTube probably can take a day or two to finish processing), hopefully everything worked smoothly this time with the in-house mini-workstation production and we could meet a reasonable deadline (sorry for the previous round delay on the videos), enjoy. for the rest I received no notice of any changes from any of you so what we discussed/agreed previously here about the finals will be what prevail. I PM'ed you already like a hour ago the final match confirmation/details as usual then good luck to everybody and have fun guys. see you tomorrow in-game.

@aimer true I had inadvertently sent it to your old/lost aimer account. sorry for that and thank you for let me know in time, that's exactly why I generally post in the forum when I confirm the fights (just in case there's a mistake or something) as well as other of the reasons of the 24 hours in-advance deadline to close the fights. sent it now.

ok guys, ggs, so finally this fpsclasico Winter 2021 had ended with semisek as victor on the third place final and with fau as the tournament champion on his first appearance at the fpsclasico competitions. first start by breaking the highly anticipated third place final, as expected from the final rounds this was a much more balanced fight than the previous ones which could have easily ended both ways. jutuli's strong offensive game wasn't enough to break the strategic semisek game who managed to narrowly secure a victory on the first map. this followed by a strong semisek leading also on his first home map and moving towards what was looking like a clear victory however his second home map didn't prove as successful for him. pro-q3tourney4 being a very open map without much room for any short strategy other than kill or be killed definitively favored the offensive jutuli playstyle who ultimately managed to claim it on a highly disputed overtime despite the strong semisek efforts to close the fight asap. unfortunately as we moved to the last picked map of the match and everything seemed set for a tie-breaker finish, jutuli couldn't keep up the momentum of the previous game and ended up conceding the last game and the victory on the fight against a strong semisek that lagged significantly, particularly in this last decisive match. so overall a great match definitively worth of the competition as can be seen on the following official match results:
  • game 1 - hub3tourney1 (jutuli selection, semisek winner)

for the grand final it all started at hub3aeroq3 that unfortunately it didn't prove such a successful pick for aimer as he would have probably wished and mostly saw fau dominating it on its way to set the first win of his score. things were lot more disputed on a highly tactical second game with alternation on both sides that ultimately fau also ended breaking up in his favor for a second map win. this leave it all to the last fau map choice and once again he didn't fail to deliver and imposed him over a aimer that gave his best and showed great sportsmanship acknowledging his rival victory. this ultimately led fau to claim the final cup on his very first appearance. followed that a couple of friendly extra games definitively worth watching were both contenders opened up and exchanged fire which lead to great frags on both sides and moments for the memory of this fpsclasico Winter 21 tournament. overall a great fight worth of the final as can be seen on the following official match results:
  • game 1 - hub3aeroq3 (aimer selection, fau winner)

ok, so with this we finish this small Winter 2021 fpsclasico competition, once again, please congratulate the winners and thank everybody who participated for their good sportsmanship as well as fair play and developing and completing the competition without any incident, thank you everybody. ok, in the mean time as we speak the in-house fpsclasico mini-workstation is producing the third place final in-house vids. I guess that probably by this night I'll post them here as usual. the grand final vids likely will come next at night so they should be on the forum for display probably tomorrow in the morning. as for the YouTube videos, rumor says they're upgrading their systems to handle the fpsclasico footage, I mean, YouTube still keep processing the yesterday vids, what a total joke, with those deadlines they better be crystal clear. other than that, I think that finally this also caught some interest then, I'm not saying on the short term, but may be probably in some months, let's say by the spring or so (later February/March), we can may be do another round of fpsclasico competitive games provided the situations are right. so until then see you by now, good games and great frags. have fun.

Good games, thanks to both of my rivals and to adminless for organizing the matches.
I think first 3 games of the final match will be interesting to watch aimer had a shot at comeback in each of them.
I started playing on unfreeze servers to chill in team games with good atmosphere, in these hard times.
Having ability to play some duels was exciting for me, because 1v1 used to be my "main" gametype - nowadays I prefer more relaxed team games. I'm not the best dueler out there and there are many players who are better at unfreeze than me here, but it feels great to win a tournament like this and it will be a nice memory.

I can't promise it but I'll try to be there next time for anyone who wants to take back the title :-)

I should learn LG better, but am already too lazy in my age, so I think I will invent an LG magnetic beam bender instead and then u will be lost ;)
Anyway, congratz and thanks (and to all others) for games.

ok done videos up at fpsclasico as usual, a little bit later than noon as expected (I failed to account for the fact that not every game is as complex and then the differences stack up and that I can't just parallel so many stuff) but more or less in time. YouTube probably won't finish fully processing the videos until tomorrow or so, anyways, not really that it matters I just publish them for the audience and for compatibility purposes (i.e. I only deliver one format, YouTube provide pretty much any relevant standard) as well as a free back up storage so once done they will be available there too.

@alyeti unfortunately Miroslav has been pretty much inactive for the last year but yes I guess that at some point a Miroslav vs fau fight can happen. I mean, I'm definitively in to promote/organize that, not that I expect fau to beat Miroslav but, at least initially, I think he could give Miroslav a good fight. if he is in for that I might try to PM/mail him and we'll see if that fight happens.

@fau that's good, I'm glad you had a good time participating on this tournament. yes it seems like comparatively you outperformed your UnFreeZe performance/expectations in this competition and after all I also have to admit that as much I dislike this server after all these rounds I came to the impression that is probably the right setup for these competitions at least when combined with the provided client/setup/improvements. a server with further improvements/assists will become a little unbalanced/"tricky" in my opinion and would probably make some unrealistically good so yeah overall great games. other than that just as I said, sure stay tune, initially the idea is to poll the people for another round in some months (let's say spring) if it's not that Miroslav shows up for a superfight.
