I doubt that people would rather vote for vq3 maps over glacius maps, given that those could just as well be played on the main servers with higher population... And if there is a low player count (1v1, 2v2, 3v3) and all of those would rather play map A instead of map B, is there any harm done? After all, from what I've observed, there simply aren't any players joining if it's only 1v1 or 2v2. Shouldn't those players be offered the freedom to play a map they prefer, or to vote against maps that aren't fun/don't fit the player count? That could motivate players to stay longer, which could lead to higher chances of more players joining in, while a "weird map" would just hurt the chances of attracting other players, and risk losing those few players that are currently playing.adminless wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2026 20:44 if it would really have a population it could be a option but as a empty server voting would just be used there to either test random maps or simply to load the "good well known maps" and skip all the "weird ones" (i.e. to make it run pretty much as any of the other two servers)

Re: Glacius by default
That's one of the reasons why voting was disabled even during the meetings as otherwise the less common/popular maps would be skipped 80+% of the time. The point with glacius is playing something else different not the same popular stuff that it's what's going to be voted and your own answer confirms why voting would be negative for the server. Yes outside of the meetings the best the server did was to host a few casual 1vs1 games here and there but thing is the least you want is that now the server come across as a 1vs1 oriented/dedicated server. Once again that would only alienate any interest people might have in the server. What you want are top unfreeze 4vs4/5vs5 games on top competitive maps, you're not gonna accomplish that by filling it with random 1vs1 games when the rulesets don't even really match such games. Once again as with the true private servers, there's obviously as well a couple of dedicated duel servers with proper rulesets where voting is as well adequately enabled where people that is really interested in that gametype plays on a daily basis and that btw even if the player count is much less they are still significantly more popular than glacius (and where ztn3tourney1/q3dm17 are played like 24/7 btw). glacius it's what it's a top public server just running the best custom maps ever and it's set accordingly. I repeat if it's not working it's not due bad settings, server or anything else it's just because (literaly) people would just full the ffa server before going there. Not trying to be toxic or anything, as I started saying I wish myself the server would be more popular, just telling it the way it's.
