You are unlucky Dvinci. I wasn't there then. This situation was at 20/05/2019 21:54:57. I left the game then. You can see it on the screenshots below. Then Dr.Green was in the game. I played at 21:26:56. And exactly at 21:54:57 I left the game. Then it happened. I checked the recordings after midnight. After 12. We didn't play on this map even once.

don't stress over it mate, I also checked logs and the console and my understanding of the issue is that the viper++ report/complain doesn't come out because of a specific incident precisely yesterday but more because of a repetitive behavior over the time.

Ok but I’ve only seen viper a few times in years... and how can I not stress over it I am banned. And being posted about like I’m too stupid to figure out to just play the game and not harass people. You gave me a chance and then took away the chance plus even the ability to play over some guy with no proof who can’t even say when. Like how is that fair??? I gave you my word and you’re not even letting me honor it.

Viper you are a flat out liar bud. As I’ve already expressed the real life version of you smacks a snake and then complains it got bit. All my years on this earth and you’re the first person I’ve ever seen cause a problem and then tell on someone and say the problem was their doing. YOU STOLE THAWS,YOU TEAM KILLED. AND YOU MESSAGED ME REPEATEDLY AFTER ME TELLING YOU TO JUST SHUT UP.

dude I wasn't even talking to you, I was just letting WhoAmI know about the issue. for the rest if you keep pressing this like that the only thing you're gonna make out of it is get a spare ban on the forum too and a permanent ban instead at the servers. you already got your fair chance to express/defend yourself here and your poll (two in fact rather than one). the only thing you're doing now is repeat over and over the same stuff. as for viper don't worry that if at some point he is also found worth a ban for whatever the reason is, he sure will as everyone else. so far the only complain I heard about him is from you but apparently he just shoot you as much as you shoot him.

He did wrong as well. And I’m defending myself because I am the one not able to play. I think anybody would be mad if they got banned for no reason. Was I acting this way the first time? I was polite and I denied nothing. I didn’t call anyone a liar I didn’t even try to defend it. I’m pissed of rightfully so now because there’s a guy playing freely who openly lied about me. I’m not spamming this forum I’m commenting on a post directly involving myself. If I can’t play quake then what good is a forum? What do I have to lose I shouldn’t have even a one minute ban for this because it is false.

alright if you don't know how to call a topic quit then as you want. your new messages aren't really bringing anything so be it, the forum will get back for you once/if it's that the servers ban go away.

I was in that notorious game and recall some of the drama in the chat, but I wasn't at the location where this happened so I can't say either way, nor did I pay much attention (there is always some husband-wife kind of sausage measuring happening when the kids are out  ). I can safely say that Dvinci didn't shot me or stole thaws from me that day, really not any other day that I can remember.

Now what I will say though is that he chat trolled that evening, perhaps was in that mood, or it was the blood alcohol level, or boredom, not sure. But I recall telling WhoamI to stop answering his repeated questions as he is only coming up with random nonsense just to divert WhoamI's attention (of course, WhoamI didn't stop  :D ). I run my mouth a lot as well, but if I ask someone something, and they don't answer, I don't keep repeating the question, I respect the silence. To say something good, Dvinci didn't do his usual cursing like some butcher boy at the slaughterhouse, so that is an improvement.

My vote therefore is to lift the game ban, give a period of forced silence, and see if anymore issues come up that can be proven by a recording. Dvinci says he will record every game, so I'd leave it his responsibility to prove innocence if anyone else comes back with a negative report. In other words I'd give the man a chance to prove his promise to adminless, perhaps this was just bad timing. But if there is a repeat of the behavior and there is a recording that proves it (or there isn't a recording that disproves it), I'd say lock the doors.

@Dvinci - my advice, just let some of it go, pick your battles. I get shot out of thaws by noobs and random joiners frequently, and I just move on to another freeze, I don't get all pissed off. We can't have it all, and you never know - right around the corner you may find 3-4 frozen teammates and earn a lot more points by leaving the "incident". Of course, you do as you want, but in this specific situation I would have definitely not shot back, I would have just left (especially if I just came out of a ban, too risky). We all have our bad days when we tend to be too sensitive, and that is when things tend to go too far.

Just my two cents, I sit back down to the witness bench :geek:

Hi everybody,

I agree with the Dr. :)

Dvinci plays for more than one year (since I know) and I never got problem with him. Perhaps it is a bad time for him lately so I propose to not punish but just let another chance. I want to recall to everybody that it is just a game. And even if Dvinci would have stolen one point it is not a very important reason to ban him. Just let him know that if someone complain again we will look at its demo and ban him for a long period of time if the demo says "oups i did it again" :). I would be sad that from a game it becomes a very serious matter. I would prefer everybody relax and play again together as intelligent people. So lets play again and it doesn't matter afterall. Sometimes people take points from me and I just let them do. To play is to have fun. If someone is just obsessed to be a top score player and cheats others in order to take 1 or 2 points more, it is his problem. Globally people are very fair because everybody knows it is necessary to be fair to have fun. So I'm not affraid that a lots of people become "point stolers". I think viper would be ok if he manages to relax and dvinci play relax again with everybody.

I don't know how to vote in the points system but I guess you have understood.

Love for everybody

hello and welcome to the forum

thanks for your input on this. I mostly agree with you, however there's just one thing in what I disagree and it's that if you knowingly let stuff like this to happen (i.e. you don't do anything about it) then you're effectively normalizing that behavior. sure of course, nobody is mad about some misbehavior here and there and that's not even the point of the ban here, but if you don't cut this stuff at its roots then it won't just be here and there and/or just this or that other guy. trust me when I tell you that in less time than what you might think you'll end up with a totally unplayable/highly hostile/toxic room and I believe that none of us want that.

of course I fully understand that it's very important to not overreact to meaningless shit but at the same time it's also very important to give an appropriate response to the issues before they escalate (even further) and just get out of hand. so when a player after years of trash talk get chat banned and the day after the chat ban shows up here with a personal/flame war with another different player, that in my book, is clearly worth a ban. of course not a permanent one, but at least a temporal ban.

so anyways, the poll was closed as he got also forum banned as he wasn't really letting anyone but him express and he was essentially monopolizing the thread repeating the same stuff non stop, but I've seen that a couple of you have called for lesser measures. well, I initially announced a couple of months ban, apparently his ban was placed the Wednesday 20 of May of 2020 at 12:43 CEST then I believe that we can just leave it with a month ban instead and the remaining month of only chat ban.

All valid points. We do not have the experience of many years of managing servers and its community, so we can't look at the whole picture like you can. We will report any serious abuser in the future, to keep the air non-toxic.

I fully understand the fact it is the role of an admin to act when something meaningful happen in the room he is in charge of, in order to prevent to normalize the thing. I think we have much spoken about the stuff to not show the fact as a normal thing.

I have reacted just because I'm tired to see punishment and represession everywhere. And Even in a play room now I can see repression. It's just I prefer and understand easily and deepely reparation or consequences instead of punishment and I have the strong believe they can be found when someone wants to. I think punishment is just the way the problem will express elsewhere and in another shape. In my opinion, to punish, is just to assum a role's responsability but not the human link and the whole history of a problem. But everyone has its own limits and doesn't want to take part in every story, so we have invented punishment... But it is metaphysic / psychologic point of view and I dont want you to adopt the same. I would just want to share.

Thank you anyway to make this room to live and to take care of the atmosphere.

Have a nice day everybody

yes but I can easily tell that your thoughts are flawed on the fact that if you just don't punish anything and try to settle everything just by reasoning, then, what are the consequences you talking about? if you think that thoughts of a bigger good or "belonging" to a higher entity (a community) that aren't really bringing anything tangible to someone (a reward of some form) are gonna stop somebody from doing shit that directly does, I can tell you for a fact that you're straight wrong. of course those are also important things to strengthen and to keep in mind but it's quite obvious that they alone aren't reason enough for someone to stop doing shit unless you directly punish them (i.e. they have to deal with direct tangible consequences) and if you miss your chances to take action by the time you realize your mistakes, all that stuff you talking about will no longer even exist. besides you're also wrong in thinking that you can/trying to figure out, understand or by any other means "fix" people and have some expectations on that. you can not, only they can and they are more likely to go through all that once they have to deal with actual consequences (i.e. they have a reason to).

anyways that's just how things work, at the end of the day the really important thing here is that there's some sort of balance and not end up overreacting to any random meaningless shit out of nowhere.
