UnFreeZe Tournament 2026 (sample)

Post by adminless »

stages special
  • UnFreeZe All-Star Game 2026 (to be determined)
format and rules
  • two legged league consisting of classic UnFreeZe 5vs5 matches disputed over four maps played on a-b-a-b order without tie-breakers where a is the home team of the encounter.
  • the seeding for the initial match-ups and league start up order comes given from the historic team ranking as recorded in this site here.
  • winning a match gives two points while tying one point and to win the league a team needs at least a two, or more, points advantage over the second.
  • in case at the end of the league the difference between the first and the second is less than two points the ultimate champion team will be determined in a straight up super final between the first place and the second place of the league to be disputed in a best of five over the five most played maps during the whole league (i.e. no choices).
  • the undercard matchups (if any) though not strictly mandatory/enforced they are meant to be played and honored all the same.
  • the servers for the matches will either be fpsclasico.de or fpsclasico.eu at ports 27968 or 27970 (both 24/7 available for testing and training with the public password 1234). the home team of each match will ultimately chose the server to play unless deemed technically necessary otherwise (i.e. the chosen server is down or impacted in some way by a technical issue).
  • in case of dates overlap the preference in the selection of the server will be first to come, first to serve (i.e. it will be given to the first who chose it and thus the remaining one will be defaulted for the other match).
  • all the maps in a fight must be different with the "home" team choices having preference over the "away" team choices and the picks will carry out between direct legged match ups.
  • the pro-q3dm6/6++/bloodcovenant, q3dm7/7++ and pro-q3dm13/nodm9a all count as same map (the respective group of course).
  • each team picks three maps from the entire map pool posted bellow and will have the ability to blacklist one from the opponent picks.
  • the home team should announce their map picks at least 72 hours before the fight date as to give enough time for the away team to do the same as well as to announce their block/s at least 48 before the fight date for ultimately the home team to announce their block/s at least 24 hours before the fight date, missing any deadline will result in the commission (i.e. me) overruling that as well as any of the following deadlines for the fight.
  • every player that participates on a fight must ensure to have installed at least any maps announced to be played prior connecting to the server.
  • cheating, in any shape or form, be it hard as but not only limited to aimhacks (assists/hitbox), wallhack (of any type) or soft as but not only limited to asset hacks (transparent textures) will lead to outright immediate disqualification and permanent ban of the offending player or even team in case of widespread "normalized" use (i.e. nah admin we do play like that).
  • needless to say normal UnFreeZe rulesets at play and as usual, exploitative gaming and/or just ruining the game in some way can be subject to some kind of penalization to evaluate depending on the offense.
  • unnecessary talking during the fights is not allowed and the players must properly name themselves (i.e. no fake/random nicking).
  • no in-game spectators are allowed, extra players must wait/spec on the respective gtv server or anywhere else where they remain engaged in case of need later on.
  • given the calendar dates then it will become responsibility of the teams to either meet them or come back with another date within a week term, failing to do so and/or to communicate clearly during this period of time will result on the respective team/s being ko'ed.
  • although there's always some room for agreement systematically delay and lag the tournament waiting for a specific player or players to be available to agree a fight date will not be tolerated in the long run so when proven unrealistic/unreasonable otherwise teams must take any date as long as they can meet the minimum five players required to play regardless of anything else.
  • the only accepted way of communication when it concerns the commission (i.e. me) it will be exclusively this fpsclassico forum or the respective adminless email account at fpsclassico.com
  • all teams must consist of between six players (min) and eight players (max) and be announced and registered in this forum prior the start of the competition for which at least one of them (the representative) must have a registered account in this forum.
  • before registration all teams are subject to a overall fair play balance limit in favor of a more exciting and engaging tournament for everyone involved in fashion with previous editions champions abilities (approx).
  • roster changes during the development of the tournament are not be allowed and only the players registered at the beginning of the tournament will be the ones allowed to participate for each team. failing to meet such requirement, or meet the minimum amount of required players, at any given match will result in the respective match being given lost by a 3:0/30:0 score against the offending team.
  • all teams and players names must be "original" (or at least not clearly copies/rip off of something else) and respectful (i.e. no mockery) and stay away from any sort of political or social causes/issues. in particular advertisement/spam/mockery nicks are explicitly forbidden.
  • obviously teams aren't going to be micro managed however at the same time it's important to note that everyone registered is expected (i.e. required) to play at some point.
  • the typical game times will be between 18:00 and 22:00 as earliest/latest start/finish times (approx) pretty much any day of the week of choice obviously always being agreed by all parts (me included) beforehand with at least some days (ideally a week) of advance. unless stated otherwise all times noted/given are in the Central European, UTC+2 at the time of writing, time zone.
  • although it will be tried to respect the game dynamics during the development of the competition as much as possible, game adjustments/changes can be introduced at any given point if deemed necessary to correct any potential game issues/exploits or if otherwise just found appropriate for a better development.
map pool (mappack: unfreezeplus_mappack.zip) recommendations
  • although there's no explicit installation that will be enforced so people is free to use whatever they see fit it's nevertheless strongly recommenced (virtually required I'd say) to have at least downloaded and installed as well one of the provided full tested packages on this site fpsclasico-client-community-edition.zip (64 bit win/linux/mac pc compatible) and/or ioq3v6-unfreeze-client-v23.5.zip (32 bit win/linux pc compatible) just to be safe.
  • in that regard it comes across as absurd to have to explicitly write this but since some people seem to want to manipulate the spirit of the freedoms given over the installment to pretty much outright cheat just note that as with any given freedom is meant to be respected and honored and not to be exploited and abused to obtain a unfair advantage over the rest or simply to break the spirit of the tournament and the game itself. as explicitly noted in the rules this time any "enhancement" beyond just merely aesthetic like for example but not only limited to custom models, sounds, effects, textures packs, huds and the likes that clearly gives unfair advantages and break the spirit of the competition and the game constitute indeed cheating, and not any kind of "freedom", and will be dealt with as such.
  • despite how many decades you have played Quake III Arena to prevent disappointments later on it's strongly recommended (again virtually required) to have played at least for some days at the well known public servers before join as this might end up significantly differing from what you could have expected it to be.
  • although everybody is welcome to participate and ultimately will be allowed after several years of solid tournaments the current teams skill level is so high that unfortunately unless you're already a proven top team you're probably better off not to participate just like that in favor of a better enjoyment for everyone involved and rather encouraged instead to look for community events or casual matches first to get started and then to build up from there.
  • in line with that although not enforced the current teams are as well encouraged to balance their formations when building the team taking in consideration more factors, like the availability for example, than merely the player skill for a overall better development.
  • as written in the rules, the purpose of these events is that the people participate and get involved, therefor do not join this if you already know beforehand that you're mostly not going to be available during the tournament dates or just "for the sake of it".
  • keeping in mind that although six players teams will still be allowed it's nevertheless recommended to have at least seven in order to be able to successfully complete the tournament without incidents/delays.
  • as general advice and in the event of doubt the one regarded as main and default server pick for the matches is fpsclasico.de:27968. that's the server considered to deliver the best possible games at the moment of the both.
  • the rules on this page aren't black and white laws that will blindly be applied just like that and it's as well important to note that it's not possible either to cover and anticipate everything just like that here (or anywhere else) so what's important is to understand the spirit of the norms rather than trying to make a issue out of the language or of how something is redacted as that will probably take you nowhere here in the event of a disagreement.
  • beside competing do not forget to have fun and share the experience with the rest of the participants both in-game as well as off-game since at the end of the day that's really what this is all about.
  • in case of doubt or anything do not hesitate to make any questions you might have as well as provide any feedback you see fit always in a respectful and constructive manner of course. in that sense please remember to stay away from overarguing, forcing a issue or simply monopolizing the conversation with a specific topic and similar behaviors that just take away from the experience as, in the long run, they will not be tolerated.
